Health and Nutrition 2012

Weight Watchers weigh in Monday, March 26, I lost another 2.2 pounds for a 12 week total of 12.2 pounds.  My progress is due to weekly meetings at weight watchers and working out in the gym.  My goal is to lose another 3 pounds and then I will be just maintaining after that.  I do plan to attend weekly meetings at Weight Watchers anyway and continue my blog to share with others.  I believe that one of the reasons that I am so successful is because I get weighed weekly by Weight Watchers.

As I said I do continue to attend Weight Watchers meetings and work out in the gym but I also use some of the Weight Watchers recipes.  The recipes are a huge part of my success as well because I have to eat.  I am not a person that does not eat while on a diet, I eat all day long but I eat small portions that are healthy and filling.

This past week I mostly had for breakfast yogurt and a banana.  On some days I threw in two pieces of turkey bacon with egg whites. In between breakfast and lunch I ate a serving of fruit.   Mostly for lunch I had a salad that was loaded with vegetables and a light dressing.  My favorite right now is Ken's Light Caesar that is only 2 points for Weight Watchers.  My all time favorite is fat free catalina that is only 1 point per serving.  Also for lunch I had chili.  It is a Weight Watchers recipe that I used from etools for Weight Watchers.  I also had a Weight Watchers vegetable soup.  Some people say that this is the secret to their success with Weight Watchers.  In between lunch and dinner I ate another serving of fruit and a snack.  My favorite snack now is fiber one 90 calorie bars, chocolate with peanut butter.  I also like popped chips.  Most nights I had a Lean Cuisine for dinner with another salad.  And for dessert I had my favorite Weight Watchers candy bar ice cream.  It is only 4 points and very delicious.

I drink plenty of water during the day, coffee, and maybe a diet soda.  I don't add any fat to my coffee because I use fat free creamer.  I use the powdered fat free creamer because it has a lot better taste than skim milk.  I also use splenda.  I don't drink any fluids with added calories.  I think that is okay for when one is closer to or at their goal.

Please comment if you have any questions or comments.

I am happy to share.

Health, Nutrition and Spiritual

FRIDAY, MARCH 23, 2012

Had a great week!

Attended Church with my son on Sunday and it was great, a lot of learning and enjoying to be in company with other Christians.  Also, I attended Bible Study on Thursday night.  I am off to a much better start than I have in the past with my Walk with God.  I have always loved the Word but not enough.  And now is my time.  I am very excited and I will continue to share!

Another great week with my focus on health and nutrition and I would like to share a few things that I had to eat this week:

-fiber one 90 calorie chocolate brownie and there is one w/ peanut butter.  Absolutely delicious!  For Weight Watchers (WW) it is only 2 points (pts) and well worth it.  Truthfully they are really small but Big on taste
-popped chips, barbeque so far is the best flavor for me. You can have 20 chips per serving for 3 WW pts. I don't like the sea salt w/ vinegar at all even though I do like that flavor just not in the popped chips.
-kellogs chips are great and are 3 pts per serving.  You can have 30 chips.  My fav so far is sea salt.  Yum!
-*****my fav at night is WW ice cream candy bars.  Are you kidding?  4 pts and it does not taste like diet food.  You feel like you are cheating.
-Go out and buy Ken's Lite Dressing, 2 pts and delic!
-My old fav dressing is fat free Catalina, 1 pt and delic!
-I had WW Chili that I made and ate almost all week, 94% Lean Turkey, celery, tomatoes, kidney beans, red and green peppers, onions ...I have to ask WW if I can share the rest of the recipe.  It is so yummy!

Please take my advice and try these things, they are all delicious.  And please if you have any questions or you want some suggestions on where you could start, comment.  Don't be shy!  Let's do this together.  And it works for me and I would like to help you by continuing to share.

By the way, in the a.m. I am attending a Women's Ministry and we are going to a Breakfast Buffet.  I have already called ahead and found out that I can order egg white (0 pts), turkey bacon and sausage, and lots of fruit.  I might even have half of a bagel and low fat cream cheese.  My cheat is to not order any orange juice and use those points for food and drink water or skim milk.

I love sharing with you!

Health and Nutrition

Yesterday Monday, March 20, 2012 marked my 11th week of weight watchers and exercising toward a healthier me in 2012.  I went to Weight Watchers (WW) and was happy to find out that I lost .8 pounds in the last week which is a grand total of 10 pounds in 11 weeks!

I did this how?

*prayer, I joined a church one week ago and will continue to learn and grow in my relationship with God
*jointed WW and the gym the first week of January
*signed up for etools w/ WW
*planning and preparing meals on the weekend
*write almost everything down that I eat
*use of measuring spoon for most everything that I eat
*drink lots of water daily, eliminate all drinks with calories, no regular sodas, only diet
*4-6 servings of veggies and fruit daily
*breakfast daily, ex. yogurt w/ fruit
*lunch daily w/ healthy snacks
*low fat dinner w/ a snack

AND REMEMBER EVERYONE AND THIS IS SOMETHING THAT I DO FORGET TO MENTION, SOME OF THIS IS ONLY TEMPORARILY UNTIL YOU GET SOME OF THE WEIGHT DOWN.

A lot of the habits you would want to continue but some things like having smaller portions won't always stay the same.  I get 26 points daily and that is to LOSE WEIGHT but once I am at my goal then I can add more points to maintain my weight.  Another example is that after you get your weight down you can incorporate more variety, some fluids w/ calories etc.  I chose to restrict the calories in drinks because I love to eat and I would rather spend my points on food than drinks.

It is a committment but one that I really like thus far.  The harder you work, the more results that you see, the more you want to continue to work hard.

Please ask any questions.  I have lots more to share!

My progress!

On Monday, March 12, marked my 10th week of following a weight watcher's diet and also exercising in the gym.  I lost 4 oz. this past week which is a total of 9.2 pounds!

Now what's for lunch tomorrow?

breakfast: yogurt (2 points), sliced gala apple (0 points), and 16 oz. water
snack: sliced orange (0 points)
snack: sliced gala apple (0 points)
lunch: homemade vegetable soup (1 point), homemade chili (6 points), salad (0 points), dressing (2 points) 16 oz. water
snack: sliced gala apple
dessert: fiber one bar (2 points) DELICIOUS!

So 13 points used after half of the day and I will still have 13 points left for dinner and dessert!

I could not remember the weight watcher's chili recipe but I threw in 94% lean ground turkey, two cans of kidney beans, chicken broth, celery, green peppers, red peppers, onions, garlic, cumin, paprika, pepper and it tastes great!  Does not even taste like diet food!

Weight Watchers Weigh in Week 9

Hello.  Yesterday Monday, March 5 marked my 9th week of a Lifestyle Change 2012 and I continue to do well.  I weighed in at Weight Watchers (WW), I gained .8 ounces.  Not bad.  One does not lose weight every week, I know that I have not.  After 9 weeks of a Lifestyle Change I lost a total of 8.8 pounds and I am proud of my progress.

My progress is due to hard work in the gym and weight watchers.  I like working out and I am glad that I have made that important in my life again.  I started out really slow in the gym and I continue to take my time  until my body is ready and more in shape to do a lot more.  I work out 30 minutes about 3 days a week with goals much higher for later when I am ready.  On days that I have more time like the weekend, I spend a lot more time in the gym.  For example, this past Sunday I had enough time to jog 3 miles.  I have also committed myself to Weight Watchers.  I have done WW in the past and really enjoyed it so I was excited about signing up again and following the diet as I should.  So far, I am doing well and what helps me a lot is having etools where I can do all of my calculations for my food on my phone.  LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!  It is the best.  It just makes it very convenient, pick up my phone and just plug in my points so that I can keep track.  It also has featured recipes.  I have already tried about 4 different recipes and they are great.  They don't taste like diet food.  One thing about WW for me is that I love to eat so I cannot just live on an empty stomach.  I just find foods that are good for you and are not a lot of points and eat a lot of those things.  I eat a lot!

There are so many things that I want to share and will do so.  Please comment and let me know what you want to hear, what you like, and/or feel free to share some of the things that you are doing to make a Lifestyle Change in 2012.

Below I will just share a few things that I do to help me eat right, stay on track, work out, and stay committed:

-Lots of water everyday.  Bottom Dollar sells a case for $2.49 which equals about 11 cents per bottle.  BJ's sells a case for about $3.49 (actually a few more bottles in a case) and that averages 12 cents per bottle.  I realize that plastic is not great for you so if you have other ideals...I keep a small cooler in the car so that I always have a bottle on hand.  When you are on the way to a meeting at your job, grab a bottle, you would be surprised at the empty bottle when you leave the meeting.  I don't really drink much except water.  Why not cut down at least until you get to your goal weight and then you can add drinks with a few calories.

-fruit.  I cut up my fruit every night.  If  I don't, the apple may sit in the fridge at work.  If it is cut up, I use a fork to eat it for convenience.  I can sit at my desk and I don't have to stop my work.  Sometimes I grab my bowl of fruit and take it to a meeting.  The secret is that it is zero points.  So why not get full of zero points.  I like to fill myself up on the fruit and that holds me over longer until lunch.  Not only that, if you are drinking your water then you are even more full.  So I might have a yogurt and water for breakfast.  Then for snack I eat a piece of fruit.  I usually try to buy what is on sell and I might just buy enough for the following week depending on which fruit.  Tonight I went to Giant and I was going to buy Gala apples for $1.99 per pound.  Then I looked at the bagged Gala and realized that 3 pounds were $3.99 per bag and I realized that was my better buy.  I bought one bag.  Normally I buy my Gala apples from Bottom Dollar because they are $2.99 per bag for 3 pounds, so .99 cents per pound.  I only bought one bag from Giant because on the weekend I will buy a couple of bags from Bottom Dollar.  .99 cents is always my goal for apples and grapes but that is not always possible.

-yogurt for breakfast.  I was going for the yogurt on sale but I am more interested in points.  So now I go to Wegman's and buy their WW brand that is 2 points.  A lot of the yogurts are 3 points.  If you go for the 3 points, you should always have a coupon.  The cheapest I see yogurt is at BJ's by buying a case and if you have a coupon on top of that, wow, really cheap!

Good luck!  Just start with the above and if you have any questions, please ask.

Weight Watcher's Meeting Tomorrow, Monday, March 5, 2012

Tomorrow will mark my 9th week of my Lifestyle Change 2012 and tomorrow I will be weighing in again at Weight Watchers (WW).  Each week I have committed to a diet and attended my WW meeting for 8 weeks straight.  I dropped 9.6 pounds as of last Monday and I am looking forward to my results for the past week.  Not only am I looking for the results from WW, but also from attending the gym 4 days this week.

What you are and will be witnessing is not an overnight diet, no miracles, no drop 10 pounds really quick before my vacation, this is a Lifestyle Change 2012.  And if you would like to join me, please comment and visit my page daily because I have a lot to share.  And also please make any requests, suggestions, etc.

I would like to share that I did make it to the gym today and I stretched first.  Then I did 50 crunches for the first time this year.  I did not want to begin everything all at once and I am doing great at that.  I only did 50 because I did not want to push myself just starting out and I know that my abs will be sore tomorrow.  After the crunches, I jogged on the treadmill for 3 miles straight.  I stopped there because again I did not want to push myself too much and take away from what I want to do in the gym on Monday.

So again, I am looking forward to my WW meeting tomorrow.  I will share the results!

I have so much more I would love to share and I will continue to do so.

Thanks for reading!

Lifestyle Change 2012

Beginning this Monday, March 5, it will be 9 weeks since I started working out again and joining Weight Watchers. As of last Monday at my weigh in at Weight Watchers, I had lost 9.6 pounds. I am very proud of my progress and would like to continue to share what I am doing and what a lot of us can share and do together. I posted many updates about my progress and shared many aspects about my plan for a Lifestyle Change in 2012 on my Facebook page since I started 9 weeks ago. My reasoning for posting on Facebook about my plan was more than anything to share and I believed that it would be contagious and it has been. The reason that I wanted to share and it become contagious is because I would like to help others as well. I want to help others become healthy. I want it to be good for their heart but also to make them happy. When we look good a lot of times we feel good. There have been many who have commented, shared, and "liked" the posts on Facebook and that gave me a thought to start the blog and share that way. There also have been many who have inboxed me to share their goals, express their gratitude for me posting and just to say how much I have inspired them to make changes in their life. In 9 weeks a dozen people have shared with me that I have inspired them to begin working out and dieting again. Well, that makes me feel great! Those same people and others have inspired me to continue to work out and diet.

I am looking forward to continue sharing my plan and my progress!
